The annual Roman Road Festival started in 2014. By 2016 it was attracting 12,000 people to the road.
The festival’s strap line is ‘made from 90% local ingredients’ with the majority of content, organisers and suppliers being from the local area including Urban Makers East, a locally grown designer-maker fair; local faith and spiritual groups putting on music and dance performances; local musicians and bands playing on the all-day music stage; local street entertainment; local cultural and arts organisations providing performers and activities; local youth organisations organising children’s entertainments; local businesses providing food and drink, and local schools and Age UK groups helping with decorations.
The festival also uses East London production services to help produce the event, including our media partners Calverts and East End Printers, to ensure as much benefit as possible is retained by the local community.
