Globe Town Common Vision: Public Realm Workshop

posted in: Urban Regeneration | 0

Meet and discuss plans for improving public realm in Globe Town at our workshop on the 5th of December at St. Margaret’s House Hall.

Local residents, businesses and community groups are invited to our third workshop, as part of the Globe Town Common Vision initiative. We will explore how we can improve the public realm in Globe Town. We will look at wayfaring, green spaces, lighting and seating and re-designing the market square and how this can improve our outdoor spaces, attract more footfall, increase visitor satisfaction, reduce anti-social behaviour and activate the evening economy.

We have invited Friends of Meath Gardens, LDA Design, London Waterways Project, Play Association Tower Hamlets and Verry Kerry to share their ideas and proposals for the neighbourhood’s public and green spaces. After presentations, a group discussion will be held to explore options for a common consensus, followed up by an activity where attendees will be asked to join themed workstations to discuss different aspects of Globe Town’s public realm.

Friend’s of Meath Gardens are showing their proposal of a green spaces strategy, LDA Design will introduce the feasability study they have been comissioned to do and London Waterways Project will speak about the possibility to connect Roman Road to Regents Canal to attract a new influx of visitors, increasing footfall. Play Association Tower Hamlets will share learnings about the importance of play spaces.

This is the third workshop that is being delivered by the RRT and LBTH Roman Road West partnership. The partnership aims to support the Council’s high street improvement strategy over the next few years as part of the Thriving High Street programme funded by GLA.

In a series of workshops happening every first Tuesday evening of the month, we will get together to discuss a relevant topic.

The next one will be on Tuesday 9th January and will discuss Arts and Culture.
