Roman Road Trust is born! [PRESS RELEASE]

Hello folks! We may have been quiet on the newsletter front over the last few months but we’ve been very busy working in the background changing our organisation to better deliver our projects.

We are now evolving into a ‘community development trust’ and will be called the Roman Road Trust.

This allows us to take on more varied and complex projects within our organisational structure. It will also allow us to become a membership organisation, allowing us to better represent our community.

We’ve developed a lot since we first got together. Inspired by the government’s high street ‘Portas Pilot’ initiative we began as an informal ‘town team’ with the same mission that we have today – to improve the area in which we work, live and socialise. We incorporated a year later into the Roman Road Resident and Business Association as a Community Interest Company. In this time we established partnerships with the London Borough of Tower of Tower Hamlets and our academic partners The Cass. Shared projects have included Roman Road Festival, high street audits, and consultations with local residents, businesses and community groups.

Plans for 2016 include building up our membership; launching a community-led Neighbourhood Plan (very ambitious and very exciting); organising Roman Road Festival 2016, and improving to the RomanRoadLDN website. We’ll be sending newsletters about each of these projects once we have dates in the diary.

In the meantime, have a look at our new website RomanRoadTrust.co.uk and also our Review 2014-2015 and find out more about our work in Heritage & Placemaking; Community Space & Events; Enterprise & Workspace; Technology & Digital High Street.
