Roman Road Trust is offering an internship opportunity for someone interested in gaining experience and training in events and communications.

The successful candidate will be working closely with our Community Engagement Coordinator on our Globe Town Common Vision project but also with our Orchard Project.  The work will involve organising small seasonal events involving local businesses, and supporting this with an active communication campaign. Title: Event and Communications Intern

Location: At our offices on Roman Road with lots of field work

Purpose: To support the work of our Community Development Coordinator by helping organise small events and activities involving local businesses in Roman Road, and communicating these across are digital platforms

Pay: £40 per day to cover expenses

Hours: 9am to 5pm, part-time with flexibility to work Saturday mornings and in evenings

Duration: Three months

 

Main activities

You will be working alongside our Community Engagement Coordinator and the ceo helping with the following:

  • Building relations with local businesses in the Roman Road area
  • Developing ideas for activities and small event that celebrate the seasons (Halloween, Xmas, Valentine Day, Mothers Day)
  • Organising and delivering small, coordinated events and activities in local shops
  • Writing regular blog posts about planned events and activities, using WordPress and Eventbrite
  • Producing a monthly newsletter to our members
  • Engaging with business on social media platforms
  • Managing the growth of RRT’s database of members

 

Skills and personality qualities

As an intern we don’t expect you to have much, or indeed any, experience and we will provide training, mentoring and guidance where necessary.

However, you will need to love people and community! Your motivation will be a passion for localism, achieving positive social impact, community cohesion, networking and human-interest stories.
