Join Roman Road Trust and Jo Behari for DIY DEMOS in The Common Room as part of Encounter Bow 2021.

This is your chance to pick up a power tool, get wild with wallpaper and brighten up a bench. DIY DEMOS is likely to be the final event in The Common Room before it is demolished to allow building works for the new space to begin.

DIY DEMOS will include:

  • Wallpapering Station: Learn how to complete wallpapering like a pro! There will be print-outs of photos of Roman Road and drawings made by local children on the day to create a wallpaper collage.
  • Bench Renovation Station: Help transform our unloved benches and tables into bright and fun furniture for The Common Room. Benches will be sanded down and a new coat of varnish applied. Local people will then be welcome to draw onto and decorate the newly renovated benches.
  • Drilling Station: Learn how to use the ultimate power tool with expert guidance from Jo Behari.

DATE: Saturday 12th June 2021
TIME: 12.00 – 4.00pm
LOCATION: The Common Room on Ford Road, E3 5NS (next to Roman Road Car Park on St Stephen’s Road.)

DIY DEMOS is an activity as part of Chisenhale Dance’s Encounter Bow Festival 2021. Encounter Bow is a free day of outdoor arts for the local community. Read the full programme.

The Common Room is currently being transformed to become a fully-functional community space for local people to use and enjoy. Find out more about Transform The Common Room.
