Roman Road Common Vision: Feedback

The Roman Road Common Vision was exhibited in the Idea Store Bow for three weeks during October and November for local people to view and give feedback. The Roman Road Common Vision is a collective vision for the area focused on eight key ideas developed by local community groups and organisations.  

We received feedback via paper forms collected at the Idea Store Bow and through an online survey. Roman Road Trust also collected responses during events throughout summer 2019.

The Roman Road Common Vision is still available to view online.

 

On a scale of 1-10, how much do you support the Roman Road Common Vision?

The majority of our respondents said they strongly agree and support the Roman Road Common Vision with 25 respondents selecting ‘10’ for this question.

A small number of respondents strongly disagreed with the Roman Road Common Vision.


 

Which is your favourite Key Idea(s)?

Equally popular choices were; Key Idea 1, Key Idea 2, Key Idea 3, and Key Idea 7.

The least popular choices were Key Idea 6 and Key Idea 8.

 

Please tell us why this Key Idea(s) is your favourite

Despite the lack of popularity for Key Idea 6: Create Low Traffic Neighbourhood & Child Friendly Streets, a vast majority of responses to this question raised concerns around reducing traffic, pollution, and noise on our roads. 

Some feedback focused on the need to improve public realm to help the look and atmosphere of the area attract visitors and reduce anti-social behaviour.

Many answers mentioned the potential of Roman Road. 

Comments also noted the need for some local people to use vehicles to aid their transport and everyday life. However, others asked for a reduction in cars and more provision for cycling.

Feedback also showed a desire to make Roman Road a more relaxed, social, calm and friendly place to be. Many people mentioned how the Roman Road Common Vision could bring improvements to mental and physical health and wellbeing.

 

What would you like to see in the Roman Road area?

The most popular comments were:

  • More greenery and reclaiming green spaces
  • Not changing the current use of the car park
  • Increased bike storage and improved cycle lanes
  • Cleaner streets
  • Improved walkways
  • More seating
  • More bars/restaurants staying open late
